Conventional violin lessons generally commence when a kid can read or almost 5 years old. Conventional violin lessons focus on skill development that is concurrent with reading music. Frequently, very young kids will commence with a Suzuki approach and gradually move to conventional violin lessons, based on the recommendation of the teacher.

The Suzuki violin technique commences teaching students’ music and violin as young as 2 years old.  If kids can’t read, they can commence Suzuki violin lessons, which focus on repetition, listening, and loving encouragement from the parents.
